MEET THE TEAM
Born and raised in Ecuador, Maria immigrated to the United States in the 1990s to pursue her education. She has crafted a career guided by her passion to address social disparities. A seasoned organizer, facilitator, advocate, educator, and coalition builder, she is a firm believer in the power of people coming together to address complex social problems. Maria spent over ten years as a health care practitioner, serving uninsured and under-insured populations in Oregon, California and New Mexico. As the national expert on the issue of ranked choice voting she believes that democracy is the ultimate health equity indicator.
Maria spent over ten years as a health care practitioner, serving uninsured and under-insured populations. She is also an educator with experience in curriculum development for community health workers. She has been deeply involved with Affordable Care Act outreach and education efforts in the state of New Mexico, on place-based health equity initiatives in the San Francisco Bay Area, and on issues of electoral reform and
democracy. She is a national expert on the issue of ranked choice voting and believes that democracy is the
ultimate health equity indicator.
Grace Ramsey serves as Consultant for Democracy in Action. She previously served as Deputy Field Director for FairVote Minnesota and Deputy Director of Outreach for FairVote. Grace brings over 6 years’ experience working on advocacy and implementation campaigns for Ranked Choice Voting around the country. Over the course of her career she has honed her skills in strategic planning, project management, and public speaking. She has a passion for voter education and community organizing.
